Madrid Planning & Zoning
August 10, 2017
The Planning and Zoning regular meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. with Randy Dalton presiding.
Present at Roll Call: Randy Dalton, Jason Suckut, Kirk Sheehy, and Deb Biegger.
Other’s Present: Becky Roorda, Adam Ostert, Ashley Neff, Paul Mills, Denny Bernholz, and Val Chapman.
Dalton pointed out that several new members were present and the Planning and Zoning Board now has a full committee.
Motion by Sheehy, seconded by Suckut to approve the Planning & Zoning Meeting Minutes from August 3, 2017.
Ayes: All Present Motion Carried
Justin Rankin contacted the Planning and Zoning Board regarding an issue with a new storage unit he is building. A dustless hard surface ordinance is in effect for the area and run-off needs to also be addressed in this area. This item will be tabled until Dalton can talk further with Rankin to get more information regarding the issue.
Val Chapman addressed the Committee with some information for our upcoming Rental Ordinance. Chapman stated that the City of Madrid will be using the International Property Maintenance Code instead of creating our own codes. She will email copies of the Rental Ordinance to all Planning and Zoning members as soon as it is completed.
A change was made to change the Planning and Zoning meeting times from 7:00 to 6:30.
Commentary was made regarding the 10’ sidewalk easement within the Southern Prairie Development located next to Continental Labs. The easement is present on the final plat, but was never defined as to whose responsibility it would be to pave the sidewalk. Planning and Zoning members would like to make sure that the sidewalk easement is addressed in future city plans.
Motion by Suckut, seconded by Mills to adjourn the Planning and Zoning Meeting at 7:06 p.m.
