Officer was called to the 600 Block of South Water Street for the smoke detectors going off in a residence. Officer called out the Fire Department to do a walk-through checking for heat. Everything checked out OK.
Officer assisted a Boone County Deputy with a subject in Luther that was in sales who was not taking no for an answer and trying to force his way inside, the caller stated. Officer was unable to locate the subjects in Luther but did locate them at Madrid City Hall when they attempted to get a permit to sell Kirby Vacuum’s in town. The permit was denied because of the call received in Luther.
Officer checked on an open door to a garage in the 400 Block of Fairview Drive. Officer found everything was OK. Officer left a business card in the door advising the property owner of the situation.
Officer spoke to a Madrid resident reference a scam text message received, stating that it was the IRS, and that he needed to call them or that he would have a warrant issued for his arrest.
Officer spoke to a City employee, who made a complaint of a Madrid resident allowing his dog to run at the Park and then refused to clean up after it. Officer will contact the subject and inform him that he must clean up after his animal.
Officer went to Ankeny, to the DCI Lab, and picked up two firearms from past Madrid cases, that were done with testing.
Officer did a welfare check on a female in the 600 Block of Maverick Lane. Officer spoke to a brother of her ex-boyfriend, who stated that she moved back to Missouri after a break up last week.
Officers attended a CPR re-certification class hosted by the Madrid Fire/Rescue Dept.
Officer returned property to a subject regarding a past burglary case.
Officer received a request from a law firm for a report and 911 call from an accident in 2015. Officer called the Boone County Sheriff’s Office and left a message that the 911 tape could indeed be released in this case.
Officer assisted with removal of an injured racoon from a subject’s front porch.
Officer stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of N. Kennedy Ave. The driver was warned for a stop sign infraction.
Officer assisted Huxley Police Department with following up on a harassment case between juveniles from both Cities.
Officer assisted Madrid City Clerk Staff with an out of control subject in the office. Officer ordered the subject to leave City Hall.
Officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue with a lift assist in the 500 Block of Milwaukee Street.
Officer received information on a Madrid resident driving a vehicle with fraudulent plates on it. Officer located the vehicle and found it to indeed have the wrong plates on it. Officer will attempt to locate the vehicle in traffic and deal with the situation.
Officer performed a traffic stop on a vehicle bearing registration plates that did not match the vehicle. Officer found that the driver, Daryl Shotwell, of Madrid had a revoked driver’s license in both Iowa and Tennessee for OWI test failure. Officer arrested the male and charged him with Driving While Revoked, No Insurance, and Fraudulent Use of Registration. The vehicle was impounded and towed. The subject also had valid warrants for his arrest, but were all out of State.
Officer was dispatched to a vehicle unlock in the 600 Block of Brodie Lane. Due to safety features installed on the vehicle, the Officer was unable to unlock the vehicle.
Officer was dispatched to assist Madrid Fire/Rescue in the 400 Block of North Main Street for an elderly female who had fallen.
Officer checked on a suspicious semi-tractor parked by the Bowling Alley. Caller stated that it had been parked there running since yesterday. Officer found it to belong to a Madrid resident who was doing a layover.
Officer was dispatched to return a phone call to a Madrid resident reference needing information where to drop off old medications.
A Madrid resident turned in a found phone and other items.
Officer spoke to a Madrid resident reference him picking up a female at a truck stop in Chicago and giving her a ride to his home in the 900 Block of South Kennedy Avenue. The female then left a few days later and stole change and old cell phones. Officer will attempt to locate information on the female by only a name he received.
Officer initiated a traffic stop on Highway 17 at Peterson Parkway. Officer warned the driver for careless driving.
Officer took a report from a resident receiving harassing text messages.
Officer responded to the 400 block of Newton Road for a possible prowler. Officer spoke to resident who stated that someone had knocked loudly on the door twice. Officer checked the area but was unable to locate anyone.
Officer responded to possible peeping tom in the 500 block of E. Sixth Street. Officer spoke to the resident who stated they thought they saw a tall person wearing a sweatshirt outside their house. Officer checked the area but was unable to locate anyone.
Officer assisted Boone County with a call of a suspicious person on 315th. The vehicle was located and stopped at 315th and Hwy 17. Everything checked O.K. and the caller was advised.
Officer assisted the Pony Express ride with traffic control through Madrid.
Officer stopped a vehicle for a registration violation in the 200 block of N. Kennedy. Subsequently, Brittany Neal of Churdan Iowa, was arrested and transported for driving while barred.
Officer assisted Boone County Deputies with a suspicious vehicle at Casey’s. The vehicle was connected with an ongoing Story County Case.
Officer assisted Boone Co. with a vehicle unlock on Pecan Drive.
Officer received report of a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed and making bad passes on Hwy. 17. Officer unable to locate the vehicle.
Officer assisted medical on S. Washington St.
Officer responded to N. Water Street reference a juvenile threatening to run away. The parents will seek a mental evaluation in the morning.
