07/01/19

Officer assisted a Madrid resident, in the 100 Block of Peterson Parkway, with clearing an old firearm, that he had not touched in 15 years.

Officer assisted Madrid Market with an insufficient check case.  The subject met with the owner and paid off the debt, after the Officer contacted them. Officer is still working on a second case reported last week as well.

Officer received a complaint of a juvenile riding a mini-bike around town over the weekend.  Officer saw the same juvenile riding a moped and stopped and spoke to him.  Officer contacted the juvenile’s father and informed him of the situation.  Juvenile pushed the moped home due to not having a proper license.

Officer spoke to a family in Ankeny, who requested a welfare check on a Madrid resident, in the 500 Block of South Water Street.  Officer was unable to locate the subject.  The out of town subjects came to town and made contact with the subject later in the day and everything checked out OK.

Officer responded to a complaint of juveniles playing with a fire hydrant.  The juveniles were gone upon arrival.

Officer was dispatched to a juvenile out of control.  The child was calmed down and the family transported the juvenile to his doctor for evaluation.

  

07/02/19

Officer spoke to the Public Works Director, who asked for assistance getting things moved at a downtown business, in anticipation for some City work being started.  Officer will speak to the business owner about getting a vehicle and some items removed.

Officer was dispatched to a vehicle driving poorly and very slow on Highway 17 Northbound coming into town.  The vehicle was described as an SUV with handicapped plates.  Officer located a minivan that matched the description with two elderly males but found nothing wrong with their driving.

Officer was called to East 3rd Street for a found dog.  Officer located the owner who picked her up at City Hall.

Officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic infraction in the 300 block of Locust St. 

Officer responded to the 500 block of Milwaukee regarding a family assistance call regarding a juvenile.  Officer made contact with the juvenile and several family members and assisted with a plan for future instances. 

07/03/19

Officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue with a medical call in the 300 Block of North Locust Street.

Officer spoke to a Madrid resident reference scam calls.

Officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue on an emergency medical call in the 200 Block of Gerald Street.

Officer was called to the 300 Block of East 6th Street for a dog running at large. The animal’s owner was located.  Officer had the owner come to City Hall and license the animal due to them recently moving to the City.

Officer was called to 1st Street and Highway 17, after a City worker assisted a female, with pushing her broken down vehicle to the side of the road.  Officer could not locate the driver of the vehicle.

Officer was dispatched to assist Madrid Fire/Rescue on a medical call in the 500 Block of Milwaukee Street.

Officer returned some found property to the Madrid High School.

Officer received information of a wanted fugitive, that had moved into the City.  Officer located and arrested Kolby Debrouse, in the 600 Block of Maverick Lane.  Kolby had been on the run since June of 2017.  Officer placed him under arrest for two warrants for probation revocation.  The first was out of Polk County for operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent.  The second warrant was out of Warren County for driving while license barred, eluding, and operation a vehicle without the owner’s consent.  Both warrants had no bond.  Officer transported the subject to the Hindu Temple and released him to a Polk County Deputy.

Officer was contacted by a Madrid resident, who reported her ex-husband was calling and messaging her harassing messages, at all hours of the night.  Officer received a call back number for the male who now lives in Oklahoma, and gave him a warning for this harassment.

Officer initiated multiple contacts with residents throughout town regarding fireworks not allowed in the City being used.  Officer provided copies of the City ordinance to all parties and advised on the legal fireworks that can be used.  All parties spoken to agreed to cease lighting the fireworks and were warned for the infraction.  

Officer responded to a 911 hang-up at the Flat Tire.  No one there or in the area had called.  UTL

Officer responded to assist Fire Department at a blown power line in the alley behind the VFW.  Alliant was contacted for repair.  Power out in the area.

Officer responded to a report of ATV’s traveling at a high speed eastbound near the elementary school.  UTL.

Officer initiated multiple contacts with residents throughout town regarding fireworks not allowed in the City being used.  Officer provided copies of the City ordinance to all parties and advised on the legal fireworks that can be used.  All parties spoken to agreed to cease lighting the fireworks and were warned for the infraction. 

7/4/19

Officer assisted a Madrid resident in getting them in contact with a family member after they suffered a medical issue.

Officer took a complaint of aerial fireworks being displayed on the South end of town.

Officer initiated multiple contacts with residents throughout town regarding fireworks not allowed in the City being used.  Officer provided copies of the City ordinance to all parties and advised on the legal fireworks that can be used.  All parties spoken to agreed to cease lighting the fireworks and were warned for the infraction. 

Officer assisted another agency with making contact with a Madrid resident regarding a family member in custody of another law enforcement agency.

 

7/5/19

Officer initiated multiple contacts with residents throughout town regarding fireworks not allowed in the City being used.  Officer provided copies of the City ordinance to all parties and advised on the legal fireworks that can be used.  All parties spoken to agreed to cease lighting the fireworks and were warned for the infraction. 

Officer responded to a residence on Kingman Boulevard reference an assault that occurred there. The incident occurred on private property and the parties involved did not wish to pursue criminal charges. 

Officer unlocked a vehicle for a motorist.

 

7/6/19

Officer responded to a house on Southern Prairie Drive after receiving information of a possible suicidal juvenile there. Everything checked OK.

Officer took a complaint of fireworks.

Officer initiated multiple contacts with residents throughout town regarding fireworks not allowed in the City being used.  Officer provided copies of the City ordinance to all parties and advised on the legal fireworks that can be used.  All parties spoken to agreed to cease lighting the fireworks and were warned for the infraction.

Officer responded downtown reference a male acting erratically. Officer checked on the man who stated he was Ok.

7/7/19

Officer unlocked a vehicle for a resident in the 400 block of E. First Street. 

Officer responded to a residence on S. Union Street to take a report of a burglary in which a gaming console was stolen. After the Officer recovered evidence to identify the suspect, the victim advised he wanted to give the suspect a chance to return the property. Charges pending that discussion.

The victim from the previous entry called in to advise that his property was being returned and did not wish to pursue charges.

Officer took a report of a dog at large.
