MPD Blotter February 3 – February 9, 2020

Officer was contacted by a local business owner reporting a burglary.

Officer assisted the City Water Department with a water break, inside of a residence, on East 2nd Street.

Officer gave a Madrid resident, contact information for his brother, who was in the Dallas County Hospital, at the request of hospital staff.

Officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue, on an emergency medical call in the 300 Block of North Locust.  Officer then assisted with traffic control on Southern Prairie Drive, while Life Flight took off.  Thanks to Boone County Conservation for the assistance with traffic control.

Officer received a call from staff at Alliant Energy, reference a Madrid resident that had threatened to break property on their house.  Officer spoke to the property owner who stated that he was just upset about the new meter being installed and was not planning on damaging it, just wanted it removed.

Officer met with Casey’s staff reference a lost/found wallet.  Officer returned the wallet to its rightful owner. 


Officer was dispatched to the 600 Block of Maverick Lane after dispatch received a call of a child in a vehicle not in a car seat.  Officer checked the area, along with daycares and the elementary school and was unable to locate the vehicle.

Officer mailed a copy of a past accident report, to an involved insurance company, after receiving request and payment.

Officer followed up with a detective for the Story County Sheriff to exchange information on an on-going case.

Officer responded to the 900 block of South Kennedy for a possible assault case.  Incident is under investigation.


Officer was dispatched to 500 Milwaukee Street, for a male that needed some assistance, after a fall.  Officer was able to assist getting him up.

Officer was informed of a vehicle driving carelessly, Northbound on Highway 17.  Officer was unable to locate the vehicle.

Officer responded to the 500 block of Milwaukee Street for a medical call.  Officer assisted EMS.

Officer received information of a runaway juvenile from Ames from her mother.  Officer saw the juvenile at a residence in the 500 Block of East 2nd Street and attempted to make contact with her.  The juvenile jumped out a window and ran from the scene.  Officer located the subject a block from the residence and took her into custody without issue.  Officer transported her to the Madrid Police Department, where she was held until her mother picked her up, after driving from Ames.

Officer received a call from a subject, that wanted to file criminal charges on a business owner, because he had not received his tax paperwork yet.  Officer informed the subject that it was not a criminal offense but that he could contact the business owner in an attempt to assist.  The caller got anger, said many mean things, and hung up.  Officer contacted the business owner and gave him the subjects name and informed him of the information. 


Officer was dispatched to an emergency medical call in the 300 Block of Newton Road.  Patient was transported to Mary Greeley.

Officer received three back to back calls, from a past Madrid resident, that became threatening, reference a civil issue she was accusing.  Officer gave the subject a warning for harassing a public official during the third call, before hanging up.

Officer received a call from Alliant Energy staff, reference an issue they had from a property owner, around the work being done on City property, behind Git N Go.

Officer spoke to a Madrid resident, reference needing explanation of paperwork, dealing with a civil court trail.

Officer spoke to a Madrid resident, who requested a welfare check be done on his boss.  Subject stated that he had not been heard from since yesterday.  Officer made contact with the subject at the residence and found him to be OK.  Officer relayed the message to the original caller.

Officer unlocked a vehicle at the Market of Madrid.


Officer performed a vehicle unlock in the 400 Block of Southern Prairie Drive.

Officer assisted a parole officer with a house check, in the 900 block of South Kennedy Avenue.  Subject was not located at home.

Officer performed a vehicle unlock at Dollar General.

Officer spoke to a downtown building owner, reference an unsafe building, that was served a notice to improve the property.  The owner gave an update that he was still waiting to hear from the engineer working with his insurance company on the claim.


Officer spoke to a Madrid resident reference a phone scam. No personal information was exchanged. 


Officer responded to a residence in the 500 block of Milwaukee and assisted a resident there.

Officer spoke with a subject about doing a civil stand-by.  Officer arranged everything and then was advised that it was no longer needed as he was going to have another family member retrieve the items.

Officer responded to a business for an alarm. Officer checked the building with a key holder and determined the alarm to be false.

Officer assisted Ankeny Police with locating and notifying a Madid resident of a no trespassing warning for an address in Ankeny.

Git N Go reported a gas drive-off.
