MPD Blotter December 23 – December 29, 2019

Officer followed up on two junk vehicles served in Veteran’s Square.  Both vehicles had been removed by the owner’s with no further actions taken by the City.

Officer was called to the 700 Block of East 2nd Street, for a vehicle that had been parked and not moved for 48 hours.  Officer located the owner who was visiting from out of state for the holidays.

Officer met with an employee from the sanitation department who turned in a set of lost/found keys on his route.

Officer received a call from a Madrid resident reference receiving a scam call from someone claiming to be social security. She stated that she read in the blotter and knew it was a scam and hung up without giving any information.  REMINDER: Social Security will never call. If they do, it is a scam and just hang up.

Officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue, on a medical call in the 500 Block of Milwaukee Street.

Officer was dispatched to a vehicle unlock at Casey’s.  Officer unlocked the vehicle without incident.

Officer was called to the 600 Block of Market Street for several kids on ATV’s driving recklessly.  Officer was unable to locate the kids.

Officer was dispatched to return a call to a Madrid resident in reference to giving a harassment warning to a male subject dealing with a domestic situation.

Officer performed a vehicle unlock in the 200 Block of West 2nd Street.


Officer was dispatched to return a call reference a civil stand-by.  Officer spoke to both parties involved and set a time that worked for both.

Officer was called to an incomplete 911 call in the 600 Block of South Kennedy Avenue.  Officer found everything was OK and the caller called by accident.

Officer was dispatched to a careless driver, all over the road, Westbound on Highway 210.  Officer was notified that the vehicle was stopped in Story County, before it reached the City.

Officer performed a civil stand-by, for a Madrid couple, in the 900 Block of South Kennedy Avenue.

Officer responded to Hwy 17 for a report of a reckless or intoxicated driver.  Officer located and stopped the suspect vehicle.  Driver was apparently normal.  Not intoxicated.  Probably distracted.  Driver issued a warning for failure to maintain lane.

Officer responded to the 500 block of West 5th for a noise complaint.  Officer spoke with resident about keeping music at a moderate level.  Resident was compliant.


Officer met with and released a lost/found handgun to its rightful owner.

Officer spoke to a subject reference a welfare check.  Officer knew the subject to live in Dallas County.  Officer gave the caller the information to call that department for assistance.

Officer was dispatched to the 700 Block of East 6th for an incomplete 911.  Officer located the caller and found it to be a domestic situation.  The investigation lead to not being a mandatory arrest for domestic violence.  Officer will draw up paperwork and send to the County Attorney for review.

Officer cited a released Acey Zander, of Madrid, for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officer’s assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue, on an emergency medical call in the 500 Block of East 3rd Street.

Officer tagged a vehicle parked on the wrong side of the road in the 500 block of East 1st.

Officer completed a DHS referral for child abuse reference drug usage in the home.


Officer responded to a medical call in the 200 Block of East North Street.  Officer assisted Fire/EMS with lift assistance on an elderly patient.

Officer responded to the 100 block of E. 2nd Street to check the welfare of an animal. Dog found to be fine.


Officer responded to the Madrid Home for a fire alarm.  False alarm.  Maintenance was working on the boiler and set the alarm off.

Officer spoke to a resident about a civil matter. 


Officer took a report of possible vandalism to a vehicle on State St. Investigation continues.
