MPD Blotter Apr 2 – Apr 8, 2018


Officer was called out for a theft of a beer from Git N Go Store.  Officer was given a license plate that came back to Granger.  Officer contacted Granger PD for assistance.

Officer was dispatched to Git N Go for a stolen vehicle.  Subject left his work truck outside while he went inside, and when he came out, the truck was gone.  Officer had dispatch enter the vehicle as stolen into the State system.

Officer spoke to a Madrid resident in the 100 Block of East 2nd Street reference junk vehicles.

Officer spoke to a Madrid resident who requested a civil stand-by when he could get his property from a residence.

Officer did a background check on a subject for a Madrid landlord.

Officer was dispatched to the 300 Block of North State Street.  The caller stated that a male was screaming and yelling in the area.  Officers located a male walking with no shoes and socks on in the area and made contact with him.  He was identified as Austin Hershey.  Officer ran him through dispatch and found him to have a valid no bond arrest warrant out of Polk County.  The subject then fled on foot and was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.  Madrid Police were assisted by a Boone County Deputy in the apprehension of the suspect.  


Officer received a report and started an investigation, on a possible sexual assault.

Officer was dispatched to a fire alarm at the Madrid Home. Turned out to be a false alarm from a resident burning pancakes.

Officer followed up with both DHS and Blank Children’s Hospital on a case started earlier.

Officer was called to the Madrid Clinic for a lift assist. While there, the officer called out Madrid Fire/Rescue and Boone County Ambulance because of the declining situation of the patient.  Subject was transported to Boone County Hospital by ambulance.

Officer followed up with High School Staff reference a texting and social media situation.

Officer made contact with a possible suspect in a case and asked him to come into the Madrid PD to be interviewed on the case.  After a long interview, and a review with the Boone County Attorney, Officer arrested Jordan Smith of Madrid.  He was charged with two Class B Felony charges of Sex Abuse in the Second Degree.  He was transported to the Boone County Jail where he was held on a $50,000 bond. Additional charges are pending upon a review of the case.

Officer performed a civil stand-by for a Madrid resident to get him property after a no contact order was issued.


Officer followed up on a new case started last night.  Officer attempted to interview a suspect but he declined.

Officer towed a junk vehicle from the 100 Block of East 3rd Street.

Officer was dispatched to an alarm at the Madrid Museum.  Turned out to be a false alarm.

Officer was dispatched to return a phone call requesting information on an on-going case.

Officer finger printed a Madrid resident for a job-related background check.

Officer followed up with several people and an outside agency regarding an ongoing assault case.

Officer received information regarding a past criminal mischief case.  Officer will attempt contact with the subject.


Officer assisted Madrid Rescue/Boone Co. Ambulance with an emergent medical at The Cedars.

Officer picked up a dog that was running at large in the 600 block of S. State Street.  Owner’s address was traced from City License tag and the dog was taken back to its owner.

Officer responded to Git-n-Go for a vehicle in their parking lot that had been running for two hours.  Officer checked the vehicle and found subject sleeping inside.  Subject was an insurance salesman waiting to go to his appointment.

Officer responded to the Meadow Estates reference a welfare check. The subject in question was just fine.


Officer met with DEA Agent to pick up boxes for the Prescription Drug Take-Back program.

Officer answered questions reference parking.

Officer assisted medical in the 500 block of Milwaukee Street.


Officer spoke to a resident regarding recovered items that she read about on the Police Blotter that was published in the newspaper.

Officer unlocked a vehicle for a resident in the 600 block of E. Second Street.

Officer provided traffic control on W. North Street for residents that were cleaning up a large amount of broken glass in the street.

Officer assisted medical on West 5th Street.


Officer responded to Dollar General for a vehicle unlock.

Officer assisted Madrid Fire/Rescue on an emergency medical call in the 500 Block of Milwaukee.
